Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), has gained more interest for the treatment of various ailments as well as wellness enthusiasts. HBOT is a non-invasive therapy option.

What is Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and how does it work?

Mild HBOT involves breathing 95% oxygen in a pressurized environment, typically where atmospheric pressure is increased to 1.3 to 1.5 times normal levels. This is in contrast to the initial traditional Hyperbaric chambers, which go up to 2.0 atoms and use 100% oxygen. Mild HBOT allows the body to absorb more oxygen than it would at standard atmospheric pressure.

When you breathe in oxygen under increased pressure, your body can deliver it more efficiently to tissues and cells. This increase in oxygenation in the cells can promote healing, reduce inflammation, reduce lactic acid, and improve collagen synthesis, to name a few benefits.

It is important to remember that traditional HBOT is used for serious medical conditions such as treating The Bends, while mild HBOT is more focused on general wellness and preventive health.

Potential Benefits of Mild HBOT

  1. Enhanced Recovery:

Athletes and fitness enthusiasts have turned to mild HBOT for quicker recovery from workouts. The increased oxygen supply helps repair damaged tissues and reduces muscle fatigue.

  2. Improved Cognitive Function:

Some studies suggest that increased oxygen levels can boost brain function, enhancing memory, focus, and clarity. This makes mild HBOT an appealing option for those looking to sharpen their cognitive abilities.

  3. Skin Health:

Many people report improvements in skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. The therapy may promote healing by increasing collagen production and improving circulation.

  4. Reduced Inflammation:

Chronic inflammation is linked to numerous health issues. Mild HBOT may help reduce inflammation, potentially benefiting those with autoimmune disorders or chronic pain conditions.

  5. Stress Relief and Relaxation:

The calming environment of a hyperbaric chamber can provide a soothing experience, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety levels.

Who Can Benefit from Mild HBOT

Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy is generally safe for the general population and is becoming increasingly popular with athletes who want to recover faster and perform better. Chronic inflammation and pain patients,  Patients who would just like to boost immunity and overall wellness, and people who want to improve skin conditions.

While mild HBOT is considered safe for most people, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional before beginning treatment, especially if you have underlying health conditions such as lung diseases and pregnancy is contra-indicated.

What to Expect During a Session

A typical mild HBOT session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. You will be guided through the process of what to expect before you enter the chamber. You will be wearing a non-rebreather mask where 95 % oxygen is delivered to you. Inside the chamber, there is a comfortable chair/ lazy boy where you can lie and relax or catch up on some admin.  You may experience a sensation of fullness in your ears due to the change in pressure, similar to what you feel during airplane takeoff. We help you with the discomfort by compressing slower, giving you more time to equalize.
